Fixes #252. The header ref pill was built from the shared summary Head (ref-blind by design), so it always showed the default branch. The pill is now client composition over a viewed signal in the Repo shell context: Tree/Blob/Commits/Commit/CheckDetail publish their resolved {name, sha} (zero new fetches, resolve reuse) and clear on unmount, so non-ref tabs keep the default head. Sha-addressed views show the short sha honestly. Pure derivation in web/src/lib/ref-pill.js (headless-tested); no backend/SDK change, no new deps. Decision appended to docs/go/12_web_ui.md. Tests: node --test 516/516 green, vite+esbuild green. Browser check (branch nav, deep-link, both themes, zero console errors) is OPEN: shared daemon blocks loopback, no private daemon per workspace rules.
